Palliative Care Specialist joins Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis

St. Louis, MO - Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis has announced Kathleen M. Garcia, MD has joined the organization as a member of VNA's Advanced Illness Management (AIM) medical team. Dr. Garcia most recently served various roles at Mercy including Associate Medical Director, Director of Medication, Palliative Care Program Director, Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship. In addition to Mercy, Dr. Garcia has held clinical appointments at Barnes-Jewish and Missouri Baptist Hospitals; she has held academic positions at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
"Dr. Garcia's expertise in palliative care adds a great deal to our AIM team," said Nesa Joseph, Ed.D, president and chief executive officer of VNA of Greater St. Louis.
Dr. Garcia graduated from Harvard Medical School. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine and Internship in Internal Medicine both at The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Garcia achieved board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
