St. Louis, MO – Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis has announced Christopher Veremakis, MD has joined its board of directors. Dr. Veremakis is currently the Vice-President of Medical Affairs of Mercy Virtual. He is regarded as a pioneer in the area of telehealth serving as the medical director of Mercy SafeWatch, Mercy’s first telehealth initiative that started in 2006. Mercy SafeWatch is the largest single-hub remote electronic ICU in the country, monitoring over 450 ICU beds in six states. In 2011, Dr. Veremakis initiated a Telestroke/teleneurology program which currently serves 33 hospitals across five states. He is a lifelong physician educator, and has served as a clinical professor of medicine at Saint Louis University.

Dr. Veremakis graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital St. Louis and completed his subspecialty residency in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He achieved board certification in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and in Neurocritical Care Medicine.

Mary McMurtrey
Former Executive in Development & Non-Profits
St. Louis, MO – Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis has announced Mary McMurtrey has joined its board of directors. McMurtrey, recognized for her nonprofit leadership and fund development skills, is the founder of Awakened Giving. Previously, she served as President of the Gateway Center for Giving and has held leadership positions at Diversity Awareness Partnership, the St. Louis Community Foundation and, Boys Hope Girls Hope.
“Mary’s experience in fund development fills an important need for us,” said Nesa Joseph, Ed.D, president and chief executive officer of VNA of Greater St. Louis. “Her expertise is important at this stage of VNA’s strategic growth plans.”
McMurtrey holds a graduate degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis in Public Policy Administration, Nonprofit Management. She completed her undergraduate degree at Augsburg College.
