Cardiology Hospice Care

Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis is the region’s first specialized Cardiology Hospice Program for patients with congestive heart failure and other heart disease.

Our Cardiology Hospice Program is designed to offer patients with advanced heart disease a home-based option for management of their care.  When heart disease progresses to its last stages and home health care is not an option, our program can assist the physician, patient, and family in continuing appropriate management of the symptoms at home and thus help to avoid unsettling hospitalizations.

The main goal of this program is to improve the quality of life for patients and their caregivers and to bring hope of engaging in life to its fullest for as long as possible.

When patients with life-ending heart disease no longer qualify for home health care but still require intense home supervision, our Cardiology Hospice team, which includes physicians, nurses, aides, social workers, spiritual counselors and volunteers, steps in and offer exceptional care at the close of life.
