In fact, a study by Tufts University School of Medicine revealed that only 36% of travelers sought health advice before traveling. While the majority of travelers believed that vaccines were effective for disease prevention, few were vaccinated for their journey: 11% for tetanus, 14% for hepatitis A, 13% for hepatitis B and 5% for yellow fever.

Plan ahead! Schedule your appointment at least 2 months prior to your trip. Some vaccinations are given in a 2-3 shot series over a period of time. Some vaccines have to be administered a minimum of 4 weeks apart. It takes 14 to 30 days from the time of the immunization for some antibody production to take place. |
